On March 4th, the UFW Foundation held a virtual vaccine town hall that featured speakers from the FDA, USDA, and CDC to give transparency to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and answer questions from farm workers. The event was conducted in both English and Spanish to reach a broad audience and aid attendees best understand the development, approval, and allocation processes for the COVID-19 vaccine. The town hall featured speakers Dr. Janet Woodcock, Acting Commissioner of the FDA; Dr. Margaret Kitt, Deputy Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) at the CDC; Dr. Sara Bleich, Senior Advisor of COVID-19 at the USDA; and Dr. Peter Marks, Director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) at the FDA.
